About the Journal
Babylonian Journal of Mechanical Engineering (BJME) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, original research in mechanical engineering. For full details of the journal’s subject coverage, editorial standards, and publication policies, please consult the journal’s Aims & Scope page and Editorial Policies page.
As an open-access journal, BJME makes all published research freely available online immediately upon publication, supporting global accessibility and wider scholarly dissemination.
BJME publishes manuscripts exclusively in English.
BJME accepts the following article types: Original Articles, Short Communications, Review Articles, Mini Reviews, and Editorials.
Language
All submissions must be written in clear, concise English. Authors who are not confident in academic English are strongly encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission. Reviewers assess scientific content rather than correcting grammar; inadequate language quality may delay review or result in rejection.
Types of Articles
- Original Articles: Full-length research papers presenting substantial theoretical or applied contributions within the journal’s scope.
- Short Communications: Concise reports of significant findings. Submissions must be complete manuscripts, with a maximum of 4 figures and tables in total and a total length not exceeding 3,000 words.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of the literature, typically up to 10,000 words, with an unstructured abstract and an up-to-date bibliography. Meta-analyses may also be considered as Review Articles.
- Mini Reviews: Focused reviews of timely topics, with a word limit of 5,000 words.
- Editorials: These typically offer perspectives, commentary, or critical insights from the editorial board or invited experts on topics relevant to the journal’s scope.
Before Submission
Authors must ensure that:
- The work is original and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- Where applicable, authors must ensure that all relevant ethical requirements have been met and that an Ethics Approval statement is included in the manuscript.
- The manuscript is written in clear, acceptable English.
- The manuscript follows the journal template and formatting instructions.
- Figures are clear and of publishable quality.
- References are numbered sequentially and formatted according to the journal style.
- The submission aligns with the journal’s Aims & Scope and meets the journal’s minimum quality standards.
Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected before peer review.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be submitted through the online system as Microsoft Word files. Submissions with extensive mathematical content may also be prepared in LaTeX.
General formatting requirements:
- Double line spacing
- Times New Roman (or equivalent)
- Single-column layout
- Continuous line numbering
- Pages numbered consecutively
Specific elements:
- Equations: use an equation editor (e.g., MathType).
- Tables: create tables using the word processor table function.
- Headings: use decimal numbering with no more than three levels (e.g., 1., 2., 2.1, 2.1.1).
Online Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system: Editorial Manager. Only submissions from a listed author will be accepted. The submitting (corresponding) author is responsible for the manuscript throughout submission and peer review. For technical support please contact:
Initial Evaluation
